How it works
List everything you own that has monetary value — cash and bank balances, brokerage and retirement accounts, your home at a realistic market price, vehicles, and anything else you could sell.
Then list everything you owe: the remaining mortgage balance, car and student loans, credit-card balances, and any other debt. Use today's payoff balances, not the original loan amounts.
Net worth is simply assets minus liabilities. A negative number is common early on — a mortgage or student loans can outweigh savings for years — and the trend matters far more than the level.
Rename rows or add your own to mirror your real accounts; the totals and the assets-vs-liabilities bar update as you type.
Everything runs locally in your browser. Nothing you enter is stored, sent, or logged anywhere.
Frequently asked questions
What counts as an asset?
Anything you own with monetary value: cash, checking and savings balances, investment and retirement accounts, your home at a realistic market price, vehicles, and valuables you could actually sell. Don't count your salary — income is a flow, and net worth measures what you hold right now.
What counts as a liability?
All outstanding debt: the remaining mortgage balance, auto, student, and personal loans, credit-card balances, and buy-now-pay-later plans. Use the current payoff balance for each, not the amount you originally borrowed.
Should I include my home and car?
Yes — at a realistic resale value, with the mortgage or loan listed as a liability. Some people also track a stricter "liquid net worth" that excludes the home; both are valid, just pick one definition and stay consistent so the trend stays meaningful.
Is a negative net worth bad?
It's very common early in adult life — student loans or a fresh mortgage can outweigh savings for years. What matters is direction: recalculate every few months and watch whether the number is climbing.
Is anything I type stored anywhere?
No. The calculator runs entirely in your browser — nothing is uploaded, saved, or logged, and everything disappears when you close the page.
