Rates come from the European Central Bank's daily reference feed, with broader coverage filled in from open exchange-rate data for currencies the ECB doesn't publish, like GHS and KES.
The converter uses a USD cross-rate: both currencies are quoted against the US dollar, and the rate you see is the ratio between them — the same method most banks and card networks use for non-USD pairs.
Reference rates are mid-market: the midpoint between buy and sell. Your bank or card typically adds a 1–3% spread on top, so treat the result as the fair-value baseline, not the exact amount you'll be charged.
